Our directory lists 345 published skateparks in Quebec. Ranking "the best" would require having skated every one of them — we have not, and we will not pretend otherwise.
This selection therefore rests on verifiable criteria, recorded entry by entry: surface (concrete or asphalt), lighting, public access, and whether the park is covered. Those are the four facts that most concretely determine whether a park is worth the drive — and when.
Why concrete changes everything
Of the 345 parks listed, 36 have a confirmed concrete surface and 32 asphalt. The difference is not cosmetic: asphalt is rougher, wears faster, cracks with frost and slows wheels down. Poured concrete is smoother, faster and more durable.
When two parks are a comparable distance away, the concrete one is almost always the better call.
Quebec's three indoor parks
This is the most useful piece of information in the whole directory between November and April. Of 345 parks, only three are covered:
Local Skateparc — Victoriaville, Centre-du-Québec. Indoor, concrete and lit: the only one on the list with all three.
Adrénaline Urbaine — Trois-Rivières, Mauricie. Indoor, public access.
Sifflet — Montréal.
If you skate in winter, your list is those three addresses.
Montréal: the densest concentration
With 41 entries, Montréal is the best-served region in the directory. Four of its parks combine concrete and lighting:
Planchodrome Vans — concrete, lit.
Skatepark du Mile-End — concrete, lit, public access.
Skatepark Benny — concrete, lit, public access.
Lighting counts for more than people think: it roughly doubles the usable evening season, all the more so because daylight goes early in Quebec.
Outside the major centres
Skatepark de Rivière-du-Loup — Bas-Saint-Laurent. Concrete and lit, near the Jacques-Cartier bridge.
Skatepark de La Pêche — Outaouais. Concrete, lit.
Skatepark de Contrecoeur — Montérégie. Concrete, lit.
Skatepark de Québec — Rue Robert-Rumilly — Capitale-Nationale. Concrete surface.
These parks show that quality is not reserved for big cities: a municipality of a few thousand people can have a better park than an urban borough.
Where the parks actually are
Regional breakdown of the directory:
| Region | Parks |
|---|---|
| Montérégie | 54 |
| Montréal | 41 |
| Laurentides | 40 |
| Lanaudière | 35 |
| Capitale-Nationale | 31 |
| Estrie | 31 |
| Mauricie | 18 |
| Outaouais | 17 |
| Chaudière-Appalaches | 17 |
| Centre-du-Québec | 13 |
Montérégie ahead of Montréal — an imbalance explained by the number of municipalities, each often having its own neighbourhood feature.
How to find yours
The best skatepark is still the one you will actually go to, which means the closest one. All 345 entries can be browsed as a list or on a map, and each one states the city, the region and the recorded attributes.
If you know a park missing from the directory, or spot an inaccuracy, write to us: entries can be corrected.
