Find a leak and patch an inflatable board with the included kit, step by step.
Good news: a quality inflatable board is easy to patch at home. Here’s how — a companion to Clean and maintain.
1. Find the leak
Inflate the board, then brush soapy water on suspect areas (especially around the valve and seams). Bubbles reveal the leak. Mark it.
2. Check the valve
Often the “leak” is a loose valve. With the included valve tool, tighten it a quarter turn. Many issues end here.
3. Patch a hole
- Deflate, clean and dry the area.
- Cut a round patch (no corners) larger than the hole.
- Apply the kit glue to board and patch, let it tack for a few minutes.
- Press firmly, push out bubbles, add a weight.
- Let cure 24 h before reinflating.
Always keep the repair kit with the board: a small early-season leak shouldn’t ruin your outings.
To avoid punctures: store without tight creases and don’t drag the board on rocks. Details in maintenance. Kits and accessories below.
