An initiative of the municipality of Saint-Urbain and the most recent section of the Trans Canada Trail in Charlevoix, the Haute du Gouffre trail connects the welcome center of the Traversée de Charlevoix to the base of Mont des Morios, near Lake Boudreault. Following primarily the upper course of the Gouffre River—hence its name—it only deviates a few times to either bypass a small canyon, certain cliffs, or, notably, a vast wetland known as the 'eaux mortes'... also referred to as the bayous of Charlevoix! This rustic singletrack trail, approximately 30 kilometers long, is invigorating and enchanting, designed for shared use between mountain biking enthusiasts and hikers—users even coexist on the same path.
